Things to do
It’s impossible to resist the attraction of the sparkling waters and soft sands of the beaches here. You’ll find more than 80 of them dotted around the island, offering everything from laid-back days in the sun to pulse-racing water sports. If you’re eager to explore beyond the beaches during your holiday to ibiza you can head inland to discover exquisite whitewashed villages like San Agustin and San Juan; these stunning settlements are tucked away amid fragrant, pine-clad hills.
And if you want to pick up a souvenir or two, you can always browse the handmade crafts at the famous hippy markets. We can’t forget about the clubs either; this island is home to some of the world’s wildest and most energetic parties.
Amazing beaches
The beaches around Ibiza are some of the best in all the Balearic Islands and probably further afield too. You’ll find it hard to pick a favourite, but there are certainly enough contenders to sample a different one every day of your holiday, should you wish. The beach at San Antonio Bay is great for water sports and daytime fun in the sun; the popular Cala Comte plays hosts to some of the best sunsets on the island and Benirras Beach is where you can get a real taste of the hippy way of life.
Laid-back hippy vibe
Despite contrary belief, Ibiza is not full of ravers. In fact, as previously mentioned, the general vibe of the island has an incredibly laid-back, hippy feel. The hippy period began in Ibiza way back in the 1960s, although freedom of expression and thought has been prevalent for much longer.
Nowadays, you can experience the colourful and relaxed lifestyle at one of the island’s many hippy markets, with the most famous ones being the Punta Arabi Hippy Market in Es Cana every Wednesday and the Las Dalias Hippy Market every Saturday in San Carlos.
Vibrant nightlife
Of course, it’s impossible to talk about Ibiza without talking about the island’s vibrant and eclectic nightlife. San Antonio nightlife is world famous and lies on the north west coast, where all the biggest night clubs are, alterantively clubbers head to Ibiza Old Town on the south coast. If you’re more interested in stylish bars than nightclubs, head to San Antonio’s famous ‘Sunset Strip’ where – you’ve guessed it – you can watch the incredible sunset whilst sipping on a cocktail and listening to a relaxing chill-out mix.
Places to Stay
Ibiza’s best resorts are scattered all around the coast of the island. Ibiza Town combines a historic UNESCO-listed old town with some of the best nightclubs on the island and nearby beaches within easy reach. Small friendly Es Cana is in the east and is home to Ibiza’s oldest and biggest hippy market. On the north-west coast are quiet San Antonio Bay and its buzzy neighbour San Antonio Town. For family holidays in Ibiza head to the east coast to Santa Eulalia and its broad sandy beach. Near the northernmost tip is the tranquil resort of Portinatx and its trio of beaches.
