King Evelthon Beach Hotel & Resort

Located on the coastal outskirts of Paphos, this family-friendly hotel overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, where you can take a dip in the cooling waters or watch the glowing sunset. The area is known for its secluded coves for swimming, pine forests and archaeological sites. The centre of Paphos is a short drive from the hotel, with historic attractions to discover, as well as bars, restaurants and shops.

There are three main pools at the hotel. Children can make the most of the water park during the day, with a variety of slides and a lazy river. If you want to stay active, you can join the aerobics or aqua aerobics sessions that are run regularly, or go for a cardio workout at the gym. For some leisurely time with friends, there's a football area, multi-sports court and beach volleyball court. To unwind, you can head to the spa to book in for a massage or use the sauna. You could have a game on the tennis court, where equipment can be hired. The hotel runs a kids' club during the day for children aged 4-11, with a variety of fun activities including arts, crafts and sports.

As well as a buffet restaurant serving local cuisine, made by expert chefs using ingredients sourced in the area, there's also international a la carte options. These feature Italian, Greek and Mexican dishes and in the summer months offer al-fresco dining. For an afternoon drink in the sun there's a choice of three bars: the Terrace, the Wooden Cosy and the Pool Snack, also offering light bites. You may prefer to have an evening drink in the indoor Lobby Bar.

Rooms at King Evelthon come with a furnished balcony air-conditioning/heating, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, hair dryer, digital safe box, mini bar and tea & coffee making facilities. Upgrade options include Swim-Up and Superior Front Sea View, the latter offers unrestricted panoramic views of the Mediterranean. The Suite option features a Jacuzzi bathtub as well as sunbeds on the balcony.

There are numerous historical sites to visit in Paphos, so ensure you book a stay long enough to allow you to visit the many sites, as well as leaving time to relax. You could spend hours exploring the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park, an important ancient Greek and Roman city which still isn't fully excavated. Here you will see mosaics, as well as the remains of temples and theatres. Christians shouldn't miss Saint Paul's Pillar, dating from 45AD, located where St. Paul attempted to convert Paphos from Paganism to Christianity. That may not have gone as he hoped at that time but today there are numerous historic Byzantine churches in the area. For children who aren't interested in history, there's a zoo and a waterpark. If you fancy playing a few rounds of golf during your break, you can head to Marios Golf Park, a 9-hole golf course that is 2.2km from the hotel.

More like Butlins

Mar 2022 | Catherine025

Sadly, in February 2022 the King Evelthon hotel, 5 star was more like an all inclusive at Butlins. The good points. 1) The staff were more than excellent. They were incredibly busy during the school half terms but always efficient, polite - truly exceptional. 2)The hotel is a new modern building, not yet 8 years old. 3) It has a very big main lounge and a big restaurant. 4) the bedrooms are a good size and comfortable with good bathrooms. 5) In the restaurant there is a lot of choice for meals and top quality meals. There are also snacks in the restaurant outside meal times. 6) There is a very large heated indoor pool. 7)There is a well equipped gym. )8) There is a free safe in each bedroom, which is a big saving. 9)There is free wifi in all bedrooms as well as the public areas. Again this is a big saving. However the router isnt strong enough and guests regularly lose the connection. Also the hotel regularly changes the 2 passwords. Criticisms 1) The walls are very thin and you can hear guests talking in the next bedroom. 2)During week commencing 6 February there were 3 men in room 404. They were drinking on all inclusive day and night. They were shouting and playing loud music in their room day and night. Despite complaints it was only on their last night that reception sent a porter to shut them up. It was disgraceful that they got away with it for 6 days and nights. 3)Also week commencing 6 May a different group of 3 men sat amongst other pool users at the outside pool blaring out their loud music. 4) there was another group of 5 men, one of whom was very loud day and night. Again these were all inclusive and nobody from the hotel management asked them to be quiet. 5)That same week a mens football team stayed at the hotel. Some of the players just walked around the main lounge staring at women guests. Again, nothing was said. 6)When the mens football team left a youths football team arrived. The youths were fine but one of their coaches walked around the main lounge staring at women guests. Football teams should stay in a sperate lounge. 7) The stocky evening security man should spend less time chatting to female guests. 8) all inclusive guests still had to pay for bottles of water at the bar. I think that that is ridiculous. 9)The beer is very weak. I think it is 2.4%. 10) Quite often the main lounge would run out of beer glasses and serve beer indoors in plastic cups. That is not good enough in a 5 star. 11) My overall impression was that notwithstanding excellent staff, there was a lack of management, especially with regard to drunk, noisy guests and footballers. IIt was more like an all inclusive at Butlins.

Have just returned from this hotel it was our third visit . We like to book as the food is good the hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful. This year the Hotel room was looking was looking very tired in places. The only complaint I had was there was no light at the dressing table so trying to do make upstanding up in a steamy bath room was challenging . The only thing that let us down was the weather this year . Paphos is very quiet this time of year with a few bars and shops open but still enjoyable.
