It's 5km from Pataya beach, where you swim or join a snorkel trip to experience the diverse marine life and coral reefs of the Red Sea. You can also experience scuba diving at Shark Bay Oasis, only 20 mins away. Don’t let the name put you off – sharks aren’t likely, but parrotfish, pufferfish and stingrays are.

For family-friendly day trips on land, you can join a desert safari and a visit to a traditional Bedouin camp. If you want to hunt for artisan souvenirs and feel the bustle of a real Egyptian bazaar, you can spend the day in Sharm el Sheik Old Market, 33km from the hotel. Haggle for spices, jewellery, pottery, glass perfume bottles and souvenirs, before viewing the exquisite Al Sahaba mosque. The International Shopping and Tourism Festival is also held every July, offering discounts at shops, stalls and restaurants all over town to drum up business for local shops.
