Located on the outskirts of Hersonissos, Mitsis Laguna Resort and Spa is a 5-star all-inclusive resort, steps from the beach, with views of the Cretan mountains and the coast. With all this choice it’s easy to forget the good old buffet, with its long opening hours, you won’t miss out on dinner if you’re a late arrival or miss out on breakfast if you have to catch an early flight home. If you’re going to be out sightseeing at lunchtime, you can request a snack box for your picnic. Those remaining at the resort can enjoy light bites such as crepes, hot dogs and ice-cream, between meals.

Of course you won’t be eating the whole time and you may wish to burn off some of those calories between meals. At Mitsis Laguna Resort guests can join one of the yoga classes, take part in a tennis tournament or play beach volleyball. Make a splash in the watersports centre, which offers canoeing, pedal boating and windsurfing, or in one of the five pools.. But don’t worry if it’s been a long time since you last swam, as the hotel offers swimming lessons.

And if you don't want to get wet, you can always relax on the sunbeds (with umbrellas) and enjoy a drink or three, from one of the two poolside bars. Remain here in the evening for entertaining shows or head up to the night bar with its rooftop terrace offering stunning views of the sea.

A world of relaxation, attention and indulgence awaits you at the “Zeen Spa” (additional charge.) The wellness centre features an indoor swimming pool with sea water, a whirlpool spa, a hammam and a hairdressers. Treatments you can book here include an aromatic Greek bath experience, a sugar scrub, a variety of massages and heat treatments. If you prefer to keep active there’s a fully-equipped gym.

Being a 5-star resort, even the standard rooms are large and stylish. Enjoy fresh coffee at any time of day with your own Nespresso machine, while your mini refreshment centre will include snacks, such as fruit & nuts, as well as wine. There’s also WiFi, a safe and a sofa, while bathrobes and slippers are provided. If you opt for sea view, you’ll benefit from a private terrace too. The family option includes a separate sleeping area for the kids, while there’s a partition between the toilet and the shower/bath, ideal for preventing queues! There are also two TVs, allowing the children to watch cartoons, while you enjoy a drama or documentary.

With so much to do at the hotel it’ll be easy to forget you’re on a beautiful Greek island, which has plenty to offer. 3km away is the town of Limenas Chersonisou, where children will love the Pirates of Crete. Set on a real boat you will help Pirate Tim and his parrot find the lost treasure. The braver kids and adults might like to visit Aquaworld Aquarium & Reptile Rescue Centre, where you can hold a snake. There’s also a wide range of cafes, bars and restaurants here.
