Sol Pelicanos Ocas

Sol Pelicanos Ocas is a family-friendly hotel in Benidorm, one of the best known resorts on the Costa Blanca in the south east of Spain. The hotel is a short stroll away from Levante Beach, a popular stretch of sand that's particularly suitable for young families because of its gently sloping shore and shallow water. At Sol Pelicanos Ocas, there are three outdoor swimming pools. The main pool has three open-air Jacuzzis and is surrounded by a sun terrace dotted with palm trees and Roman-style columns, giving it a tropical feel. In the activity pool, the hotel offers daily activities such as volleyball, water polo, aerobics and gymnastics. Sol Pelicanos Ocas has two buffet restaurants and five bars, one of which is a swim-up bar, allowing you to sip your drink while relaxing in the pool. The hotel provides entertainment several nights a week. You could also head out for a stroll along the promenade behind Levante Beach, which is lined with restaurants and bars, or make the walk or short drive into the centre of Benidorm. Within driving distance of the hotel, in and around Benidorm, are family-friendly attractions like a history-themed park, a water park and 15 golf courses.

Sol Pelicanos Ocas is a 350m walk from popular Levante Beach. In the centre of Benidorm, 2km from the hotel, you can take a walk down to the Balcon del Mediterraneo, a rocky viewpoint that extends into the Balearic Sea. You could also go on a more challenging hike to La creu, a hilltop wooden cross, or around Sierra Helada Natural Park, filled with limestone rock formations and pine forests. The historic city of Alicante, at the heart of the Costa Blanca, is a possibility for a day trip. Its main attractions include Santa Barbara Castle, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking the town, and a bustling harbour.

The two buffet restaurants at Sol Pelicanos Ocas are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's also a snack bar serving lighter meals such as pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads throughout the day, as well as five bars providing soft and alcoholic drinks to keep you refreshed during the day.

The hotel runs a kids' club for children aged 5 to 12 from mid-summer to early autumn. There's also a playground and two kids' pools.

The hotel has two pool areas. At the Sol Pelicanos building lies the large lagoon-shaped swimming pool with three jacuzzis. There is also a children's pool and activity pool as well as an inviting swim up bar. At the Sol Ocas building there is an additional pool, children's pool and a poolside bar.

Rooms at Sol Pelicanos Ocas are contemporary with modern furnishings. All come with Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a TV with satellite channels.

Stayed here for 6 days , I am a massive fan of the TV series Benidorm so for me it was a must to stay in the famous hotel , it did not disapoint. Hotel is clean Very nicely decorated upon arrival was greeted by friendly staff ,check in was fast , we had room 420 ,so not to bad , room was ok clean basic, lovely view of the all famous pool that thrilled me lol, room was clean but needed a paint around the skirting board as all chipped and peeling but rest was ok had a fridge in room too . Unfortunately as I walked into the bathroom with bare feet I stood on a piece of glass that clearly had been missed by the cleaners, lesson learnt don't walk around in bare feet . Unfortunately no kettle etc and when I asked about one we got told it was €15 to rent for the 6 days ,disappointing really as most 3 star hotels we've been in have had kettles in the room . Was not prepared to pay this so just ended up getting drinks from the bar to take up to the room but when you want a drink after 12 or before breakfast opens you are out of luck . Food : I'll rate the food on two separate ways as I'm vegetarian and my husband isn't so to be fair I'll do it separately First : as a vegetarian I was completely out of luck The hotel didn't seem to think vegetarian existed So both at lunch and dinners there were salad chips or on more then one occasion veg lasagne That was it !!!! Tried the veg soup one night it was like drinking cold water , all the food was constantly cold had to constantly use the microwave to heat it up , not impressive at all . 2nd: other food available ranged from veal, pork, salmon, chops ,and occasional chicken Repeated night after night , no change ,no themed nights as other hotels put on , Breakfast is OK, well breakfast food is breakfast food isn't it ,still cold though . It's a shame really because we were all inclusive and felt it was a waste of money ,go bed and breakfast I'd say ,sol pelicanos really let's uts self down on the food side , Pool: Pool is amazing and the best we've seen in a 3 star hotel ,just as it is in the TV series. However disappointing the bar was not open ridiculous really as the hotel was 3/4 full , so it was a trek bk to the other bar to get drinks annoyingly so really ,also biggest disappointment was it was so so freezing you physically couldn't get in to swim unless you wanted hyperthermia, what's the point of having such a beautiful pool if none of the guests can use it . The weather was nice ,we would of liked to use the pool more as all inclusive guests However was not possible. When I asked if any of the 4 pools were heated a big selling point they brag about in the description of the hotel , I got told "NO and you'd have to be brave to go in any of them " So very very disappointed The hotel is ideally located ,near all the venues but not so close that the bars would keep you awake, only thing that does keep you awake is the drunks that roll in at 4am screaming in the corridor, but that's Benidorm, totally didn't expect anything else really , Would we stay again ? Maybe if on a B/B basis but will probably look for a hotel with heated pool for the time of year .
