Equal to the Ikos Aria. Better than Royal Hideaway Sandals Inn, Sandals Royal Carribean, Sandals Inn Staff briliant, attentive , helpful and friendly You actually feel pampered I did notice that a few of the rooms are masked by trees so no view, no light - I would not be happy in one of those Easier flight than Greece Good choice of restaurants, and all were excellent Having to book for ALL meals (even buffet) was a bit of a pain but perhaps this is covid related Spa closed Torn between a week here and a month in Madeira a/i for less money Decisions, decisions : -)

Almost perfect

Originally booked for October 2020 so this holiday was a long time coming. Honestly, I'm glad we had to move to 2021 as it gave the gardens chance to develop and going at the end of the season gave the staff chance to work out some of the niggles. That said, there are still some to perfect. We've previously stayed at Olivia and were blown away by the service and the offering they have there but felt that the location of Olivia means there is little to see or do outside of the hotel. Andalusia is the opposite. We went out 5 out of 7 days here and this suited us much more. We upgraded our room to a Junior Suite with sea view (having had a Promo room at Olivia) and I'm glad we did. I've seen comments about rooms being small and not having much storage - that's certainly not the case with the Junior Suite. Very spacious and oodles of storage. It's worth it if that's important to you. As returning guests we were able to book all restaurants prior to arrival and the mini in advance too which if you can I would recommend as it was very busy and I heard of people leaving it until they arrived and didn't get what they wanted. We took full advantage of the free shuttle bus to Puerto Banus and Marbella which was really convenient and well worth the trip. Used the free bikes to get to Estepona - it's a decent ride on a flat surface but my goodness, it's been a while since I last rode a bike so my bum ached afterwards. Some softer saddles would be nice! but it was well worth the effort. We joined the wine tasting event but could only get in on day 5 which is a shame but Anathasia was great and it was informative and entertaining so I'm glad we did it. It was lovely to see some familiar faces from Olivia - Nikos was working on the beach this year and he remembered us from last year. He's always got a smile on his face even under the mask. I have to mention the lovely Eli working at the pools sorting loungers and towels etc - what a lovely man, so friendly and run off his feet all day but always stopped to say hello. Irini on Reception was super friendly to us too and always took time to stop and ask how we were. It really is the staff that make Ikos what it is. OK - so why am I saying it's almost perfect? Well, I have to compare to Olivia and I have to say Olivia takes the trophy in my eyes. To be fair, some of this has to do with time: - they've had time to perfect the service for example. At no point at Olivia are you looking for someone to take a drinks order - at Andalusia we were waiting on multiple occasions at the beach, the main bar, the beach bar. - they've had time to perfect the housekeeping. At no point at Olivia could I find fault with housekeeping. At Andalusia I found little things on a daily basis (and I mean little) such as items not being replenished in the mini-bar, crockery or glassware not being replaced on occasion. Toiletries or towels not replaced. Just hit and miss but nothing serious enough to cause a complaint. - they've had time to get organised. At Olivia everything runs like a well oiled ship - nothing is out of place, everything is spotless and perfectly manicured. At Andalusia there are still signs of staff learning (which is entirely understandable), there are signs of maintenance that needs doing, the grounds not as well kept and common areas (especially toilets) that need more regular cleaning. The beach - well enough has been said about the beach already but yes, it's not very nice. With all this said, did we have an amazing time? yes. Would I go back? Yes! Would I recommend to others? Yes in a heartbeat. There is no doubt in my mind all of the little things that need perfecting will be and then, this place could take the top spot from Greece. I'm already booked for Dassia next and can't wait.

Did not disappoint! Ikos at its best

After three stays at the Olivia and one at the Oceania, this was outstanding ikos quality. Even though it’s Spain, the Greek hospitality that Timos brings with his team and is easy to see through out. A 45 minute drive from the airport saw us arrive at the beautiful resort. We were upgraded to a pool view on the top floor and was perfect. The private pool bungalows are no where near as secluded as as the Olivia so don’t think there is much point in upgrading and there is just 1 exclusive bar and a pool. The choice available in the resort of the resort outweighs the cost. Room great but very little storage space is the only downside. No where to keep 2 suite cases so they aren’t on show. The teams who work at all the pools are amazing, as with all of the Ikos resorts the drinks service and bar snacks to the sun loungers are second to none (samosas are fab!) Restaurants outstanding, beach club just the best. As always the wine choice is never ending literally. Too much choice for lunch and dinner. Would find it hard now to chose between the Olivia and here. Great stay and 100% recommended.
