beautiful location, potential to be 5 star but issues need sorting
i travelled to club meri hotel on the 19th oct till 26th oct with jet 2 there was a party of 4 adults and a 9 month old baby. i had paid for a superior beach view room which i would highly recommend paying extra for , my daughter and baby and my daughters friend had a partial sea view room. the hotel is in a beautiful location and has the potential to be a 5 star hotel. however on arrival my daughter and baby where put in a high hillside room which they had to access by an unreliable hillside lift and lots of dangerous steep steps to get up and down with a pushchair you can imagine on a health and safety issue with a baby this was unaceptable and dangerous . there was also no cot on arrival or kettle to do babys food. we had presumed that familes with babies would have had a lower ground floor room this was not clearly stated when we booked . our rep at the hotel was fantastic and the next day got them a lower ground floor room . , kettle and cot. i cannot fault the superior beach room which i had , it was beautiful, cleaned everyday with clean towels, my daughters room wasnt cleaned or replenished with towels untill we asked. the hotel has a stunning beach on the lagoon however the baby pool wasnt open which was a disappointment to us , and the sunbathing double beds had been taken down which again was a disapointment. onto the food ...... it was cold and no labels to say what it was, and a lot of the time looked liked the previous days food , and food was not safely covered with insects crawling on it. we are not fussy eaters but even we where put off my partner was ill for 2 days of the holiday was this due to something he had eaten ??? . breakfast was ok but we ate out on an evening which we shouldnt have had to do as we where all inclusive. i found out that the hotel had recentley been taken over by new management and part of the hotel near the sunbathing double beds looked like it had been sold so we had no access to that, it seemed like everything was winding down for the season with lack of management and facilities , but this was our summer holiday that we had waited for after lockdown , and everything should have been ready for us .as we are the customers giving feedback for next years season. as i said at the start this hotel has the potential to be 5 star, we are a happy go lucky family and really enjoyed our time there other holiday makers would not have been so accepting , our rep has to be praised , the bar staff and kerem helping with the luggage where lovely and also need to be praised but i feel the hotel didnt quite live up to expectations teething problems maybe with the new management maybe , few issues to be sorted and this will be an amazing hotel .
Club Hotel Meri
I visited here with my 2 sons and a friend with her son during half term. Gorgeous setting and lovely rooms, we paid extra for superior beach rooms. Lots of rooms were up many steps so glad we paid extra. No check in when we arrived. Kerem, the bell boy helped with cases. He was the one member of staff who really seemed helpful and genuinely friendly. I found most of the staff ok but not friendly like he was. The BIG letdown is the food. I don’t go on holiday to have an English fry up and burgers but I do expect some variety in the food. Breakfast was ok, omelettes, fried eggs, fruit etc. No toaster. There were flies all over the cold meats and cheese and the food was in the sunlight. Lunch and dinner were the same each day. This would consist of 2 meat stews, rice, chips and some type of pasta. Labels were added after a couple of days but were misleading, for example ~ “onion kebab” was in fact beef ! A lot of food not warm and no show cooking as advertised. Constantly ran out of drinks, beer, wine etc so we resorted on buying our own lemonade ! Many cocktails unavailable. No ice cream available at all so had to use the shop. Not the one on site as too expensive. Afternoon snacks are horrendous! Each day is onion rings, cold chips and bread. Later on in the afternoon they offer biscuits which I wouldn’t feed my dog ! The beach is unkept and generally needs a good spruce up. Shocked to see the bbq that was used was situated in front of the toilets, with raw chicken uncovered. This hotel could be so lovely but we found it a big disappointment. The management sit around all day without acknowledging anyone and the only pool table is monopolised by staff so our children didn’t like to ask to play. The gym is dangerous, see photos. There was no cocktail bar as advertised by Jet2 and no day beds which were a big factor why we chose this hotel. No tea/coffee facilities in room or mini bar which is also advertised ! There are wild bore along the road which leads into the resort as well as loose dogs so need to very careful. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless major improvements are made
Club Meri Holiday
We booked a family room with a sea view via Jet2 and were lead to believe this would be adjoining rooms with proper beds for the kids (not sofa beds) on arrival around 6pm we were given a room high in the hills, lots of steps or a lift with only a partial sea view due to trees. The room was rather small with a small sectioned off second room with single bed, the other kids bed was a sofa bed in the main room. The morning after we decided to sacrifice the 'view and family room' for a room near the pool on the ground floor. Both kids ended up on fold down beds and we were all in one room but it was the best decision and changed the feel of the holiday for us. The staff were very obliging, moving all our luggage for us! The rooms although modern haven't been very well kept and the shower was in need of a good scrub. We were told by the manager that the cleaners have no room keys so unless you are in your room it won't get cleaned. With this is mind my partner had to catch staff to ask for toilet roll, towels etc. I have never known this before. I was also surprised to find that the fridge was empty and no tea facilities in the room. Again never known this in all inclusive. The food choice is basic, we are not fussy eaters so will never go hungry but it was very repetitive, we never found it cold and during our stay label's were added. We ate out almost every day but that was our choice. The staff were all friendly, there was a language barrier but I don't go abroad to be surrounded by English people so I'm ok with the barrier. Karem in particular was lovely, so helpful and was really trying to learn English, he was great. There were a few things unavailable at the bar but I'm going to put this down to a strange year and end of season. The location is second to none, waking up to the view of the lagoon every morning was wonderful and we enjoyed every second of out holiday. The pool area was great for the kids and the lagoon area safe and so peaceful and tranquil. With a few improvements the hotel could be worth 5 stars.
