Wouldn't go back

Nov 2021 | AmyFilton

We visited the Magic Robin Hood as a last minute break for the half term holiday. We arrived on the 23rd October and returned on the 28th. Having read previous comments about the medieval show, I contacted the hotel reception almost a week before we arrived to check that it wouldn't be a problem to get in to the show on the Saturday we arrived. I was assured that it wouldn't be an issue and that we could arrange it when we arrived. On arrival at the hotel and checking in, I was advised that the show was indeed, full for that evening and we would be unable to go. This was a direct contradiction to what I had been advised and left me feeling really cross. I was asked for my phone number and told not to worry and that someone would be in touch. The evening came and went with no contact, as such, I visited reception the following day and was told that there would be another show arranged for the Monday evening. Great we thought. Once again, this did not happen. As such, I am still waiting for a call from the front of house team! The medieval show was one of our main reasons for booking the hotel and left a bitter taste in our mouth. On another evening we booked the A La Carte restaurant in Benidorm itself. We arrived to be told that the kitchen was closed and to come back 'later'. Having paid for a taxi there and back this was another inconvenience and left us returning to the hotel. We spoke to reception and were given a table at Friar tucks. Again, not what we really wanted. Evening entertainment was held in the maid Marian theatre which was severely lacking in chairs and tables and was pretty dingy. In terms of restaurants, the premium restaurant had very little choice on the menu and service was ridiculously fast, not a relaxing meal. Pizza restaurant was poor, greasy pizzas with very surly service. The language being used by young, unaccompanied children around the hotel was shocking, not a good example for other children. On the positive side, the main buffet restaurant was good with a lot of choice and many local dishes. The pools were great and the slides were a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. The spa was also nice with a very friendly welcome. Our room with hot tub was clean, tidy and comfortable. The local area is stunning, we went off-site most days and particularly enjoyed Altea on market day and the lovely beach at Albir. Taxis were pretty reasonable and very reliable. I definitely wouldn't return to this hotel, having been really disappointed on 2 evenings out of only 5. We certainly won't return and I'd be disinclined to visit another magic hotel if I'm honest.

Best holiday

Don't usually leave reviews but I always read them so I thought it was only fair if I leave one this time. Despite a horrible airport experience when we finally arrived here at 3 in the morning it was perfect from start too finish cabins were beautiful I was very surprised and how modern and clean they were we went with the ultra package which means your fridge is always fully stocked juice, beer, Prosecco and water and you get to book all the shows also you get to eat in all the other restaurants which is a must because they great all of the pools and slides where great for the kids and us very clean hours of fun for us all. Food was very good always something nice and fresh to eat breakfast was the best we have had on any holiday you are spoilt for Choice. We have never visited the same place twice but we will definitely be returning back here.have lots of photos but not many without the kids in them
